ThinkFast Interactive stresses safe driving

Distracted and unsafe driving is the leading cause of death in teens and young adults. Texting and driving and not wearing a seatbelt while under the age of 18 have equal amount of prices in tickets costing $60 and it only takes a minimum of one drink to drive unconsciously.

Throughout the year, students have been able to sign a pledge to wear a seatbelt while in any moving vehicle as well as Stuco members counting seatbelts being worn before school. While the student body has done their part in wearing the seatbelts, ThinkFast Interactive came to reinforce how important driving safety is.

On April 13. ThinkFast Interactive Program was able to get student body involved in a fun and knowledgeable way.

During the assembly, students and staff grouped in maximums of seven people per team. Each team got a remote clicker and “team captain” to answer questions for an opportunity to win prizes at the end. The assembly had a host and ran in terms of a game show.

“The assembly was really good,” sophomore Marie Reveles said. “They knew how to keep us involved and keep things interesting as well.”

For many students, the assembly taught them a lot as well as keeping them entertained.

“I thought it went very well,” junior Garrett Page said. “It was a lot more upbeat and easy to pay attention.”

As well as students learning, staff and administration did as well.

“I was really impressed at how well it went,” principal Martin Straub said. “I give it a two thumbs up.”

Importance of safe driving cannot be stressed enough and students are well aware.

“Everybody by at least the age of 16 is either driving or learning to,” junior Holly Donaldson said. “It not only effects the driver but everyone around them.”

Paying attention to the trivia questions and answering correctly gave students a chance to win prizes like winner freshman Brendan Chapman.

“I thought it was really fun and I was able to win $20 and an iTunes gift card,” Chapman said.

Whether texting and driving or even just not paying attention to the road can cause a life and ThinkFast Interactive stressed how important being safe in a vehicle is.

“Safe driving is important,” Straub said. “It can save a life.”
