Popcorn concert arrives in upcoming days
The musical department in the last few months has been very busy. This includes the annual popcorn concert for band that will be held March 10. With lots of prep and hard work, the students, as well as Band Director Craig Manteuffel, are looking forward to the upcoming concert.
“We are playing three pieces as a concert band,” junior Emily Prine said. “Jazz band is also going to be playing a few pieces at the concert.”
The three pieces concert band will be playing include “Pentland Hills”, “Home on the Range” and “Rumble of the High Plains.”
Jazz band will be playing four pieces including “Sweet Georgia Brown”, “Never My Love”, “The Swingin’ Shepherd Blues” and “The Loco-Motion,”
Students seem to be well prepared to perform.
“I feel like it’s a really fun concert and it’s a good concert for kids to get involved in,” freshman Sara Rohleder said.
Prine also talked about younger students being involved too.
“Grades seven and eight occasionally play a piece or two,” Prine said.
According to Manteuffel, the music has great variety.
“It should be a concert with a little something for everyone,” Manteuffel said. “A huge variety of music is planned.”
