State science fair results
Eight students recently participated in the Kansas State Science and Engineering Fair on April 5 in Wichita. These students came home with medals for their different projects.
Senior Jill Pokorny- Gold medal, Consumer Science; “Marketing’s Effect on Perception”
Freshman Ethen Schmidt- Bronze medal, Social/Behavioral Science; “Reaction Times For Distracted and Non-Distracted People”
Freshmen Cassandra Quinby & Payton Markley- Bronze medal, Physics/Physical Science; “Effect of Sunscreen SPF on Yeast Growth”
Freshmen Jeanie Balzer & Ana Goodlett- Bronze medal, Chemistry; “Comparing Methods of Detecting Iron Content of Cereals”
Freshmen Sierra Eichman & Clara Lee- Bronze medal, Zoology; “Effect of Caffeine on Juvenile and Adult Daphnia magna”
“I personally think the science fair was a great experience,” freshman Ana Goodlett said. “It gave me a look into what a field of science would be like. I also was able to meet some really nice people and got to make a couple of new friends.”
