Auto-CAD class offered at Hays High
Auto-CAD classes are classes that not very many students seem to be aware of.
According to the course guide on the Hays High website, Auto CAD I is designed to develop the basic knowledge and skill necessary to use Auto CAD 2006 software.
Manual drafting no longer provides architectural and engineering professionals the speed, and versatility needed to communicate technical information.
Instructor of the class, Chris Dinkel said Auto-CAD is one of several courses including Architectural Design I & II and Research & Design that affords students the opportunity to create and design using software used by professional designers, engineers and architects every day.
“Projects include real world products and scale models of electric cars, architectural plans, bridges, agricultural products and are limited by a student’s imagination,” Dinkel said. “Students gain real world knowledge and experiences that apply directly towards their career goals and aspirations.”
Senior Brett Hertel has taken Auto-CAD class.
“Auto-CAD is a class where you learn to build and design objects or parts using the Auto-CAD program,” Hertel said. “You can build pretty much anything you can imagine then dimension and scale it. We also got a brand new 3D printer, so you could print out your object into a hands-on 3D object. The class is pretty sweet.”
