Fall vocal and orchestra concert a success
The fall vocal and orchestra concert occurred on Oct. 24 at Beach/Schmidt auditorium. This was the first concert of the year and was considered a success by many students who performed in it.
“I think everyone sounded great at the concert,” junior Sarah Rooney said. “My favorite piece to perform for concert choir was “O Occhi Manza Mia.”’
The students were happy to show the community what they had been working on.
“In Chamber Singers we would note dig a lot in practice and that definitely paid off at the concert because everything went well,” junior Emily McPherson said. “My favorite piece to perform was “Lullaby” because the melody is sweet yet there is a lot to the song.”
Many students would agree the orchestra has a much fuller sound this year due to all the new freshman members.
“We played the song “The Black Sea” in orchestra my sophomore year as well, but this year I’m a first violin instead of a second so it was cool to learn a new part to the song,” senior Megan Zeman said.
Choral instructor Johnny Matlock felt the concert went well..
“I am very proud of the first concert of the year,” choral director Matlock said. “The serious hard-working rehearsal environment set by the students paid off.”
