On Friday, April 19, the Hays High School girls swim team competed at Salina Central for a swim meet. The team had an overall score of 165 points, earning them seventh place.

50-yard Freestyle: 14th place – Lucy Tippy, 16th place – Jayleigh Weilert
100-yard Backstroke: sixth place – Jaylen Hughes, 15th place – Cailin DeBey
100-yard Freestyle: second place – Izabel Schmidt, 10th place – Breckyn Wahlmeier
200-yard Freestyle Relay: second place – Katelyn Stieben, Breckyn Wahlmeier, Jaylen Hughes and Izabel Schmidt; 18th place – Anne Wintch, Jordyn Flavin, Addybelle Birdsall and Sylvia Keller
200-yard Medley Relay: fifth place – Lucy Tippy, Izabel Schmidt, Jaylen Hughes and Breckyn Wahlmeier
200-yard Freestyle: 21st place – Sylvia Keller, 23rd place – Cailin DeBey
400-yard Freestyle Relay: 11th place – Lucy Tippy, Anne Wintch, Cailin DeBey and Jayleigh Weilert
“The girls team excelled at the Salina South meet,” head coach Kendra Clary said. “With many individual PR’s and a new automatic state qualifying time in the 200 free relay. Their sportsmanship and heart for the team is uplifting and has really helped the team grow as a whole.”
