Recently on Feb. 16, the Hays High School boys swim team had a relay compete at the state swim meet, which was held at the Capitol Federal Natatorium in Topeka.
The 200-meter freestyle relay team included senior Leo Hernandez, junior Marshal Sook, sophomore Karsen Flaska and sophomore Chase Zadina. At the meet, the team members achieved their own personal records with an overall time of 1:41.31, and they placed 20th overall.
“The team came and raced the best they could,” coach Kendra Clary said. “It was an awesome experience going and being able to watch the boys swim. Improvement is all you can ask for.”
With state being the last meet for the boys team, the season ended successfully, Clary said.
“The team made great improvements this year and really started putting the pieces together,” Clary said.
