In October, the Unified Bowling team kicked off its second season for Hays High School, with meets at Garden City on Oct. 19 and Liberal on Oct. 26.
“We have worked really hard, and so far, have been pretty successful,” freshman Keaton Brown said. “We are a fairly new program, and coach [Richard] Hodges is doing a great job. He works us pretty hard. Most people just think that bowling is just the bowling, but we even have to do conditioning.”
Bowling has had four practices a week, with Thursdays normally being meet days. Mondays and Tuesdays are for standard bowling practice while Wednesday practices are for conditioning by running and by improving arm strength with medicine balls.
“We have been pretty successful from a meet standpoint,” Brown said. “Some of our teams have taken second and third d the meets, with others taking various different placements, but overall, we have done pretty well.”
