Volleyball goes 1-1 at Nickerson Tri. on Sept. 26
The Indian volleyball squad has been is now 5-9 after it went 1-1 at the Nickerson Tri on Sept. 26.
For the first match of the meet, the squad faced off against Nickerson. The Indians opened with a 25-17 decision in the first game but suffered a setback with a 15-25 decision in the second. In the third and deciding game, Hays took the win with a 25-19 decision.
Things didn’t go so well in the second match of the day as the lady Indians lost against Hoisington in three games. The squad started off smooth as the team won the first game with a 25-22 decision but they girls suffered a setback going 23-25 in the second game taking the match into three games. In the third and deciding game, Hoisington took the win beating Hays 25-17.
Multiple girls stepped up and played hard for the team at this meet. Sophomore Kylie Brown led the way with 10 solo blocks along with 9 kills. Senior Haley Wells had 17 assists and sophomore Tessa Stickel had 11 kills. Sophomores Nicole Dinkel had 12 digs while Albany Schaffer had 21.
The next action for the team will be the Hays Quad on Oct. 3.
