Golf took fifth place with an overall score of 363 on Sept. 24at the Salina Central Invitational at Salina Municipal Golf Course. Also tying for the fifth team spot was Salina Central but based on each team’s fifth golfer’s score, Hays placed higher.

Freshman Katie Brungardt shot an 18-hole score of 81 and was able to take the seventh place spot in the individual top 10. Junior Lexie Schaben was 11 strokes behind Brungardt with final score of 92. Elissa Jensen was just three strokes behind Schaben and finished with a 95, tying with sophomore Taylor DeBoer.

Out of a 12-team field, Maize had a team score of 318 followed by Manhattan, 331; Goddard-Eisenhower, 332; Hutchinson, 361; Hays and Salina Central, 363.

The individual first place spot was taken by Taelyn Entriken from Maize with an overall score of 67.

The next action for the lady Indians is Sept 26 at Liberal.
