Golf places 2nd at Salina Central Invitational
Juniors Lexsie Schaben, Elissa Jensen and sophomore Taylor Deboer all finished in the top 10 to help pull Hays High to a second -place team finish at the Salina Central Invitational on Sept. 10 at Salina Municipal Golf Course.
Schaben finished fourth with a 42, while Jensen took seventh place with a 44. Deboer tied for 10th with 47. Kylie McCarthy from Manhattan took first with the low score of 40.
As a team, Hays finished with a total of 185, not far behind first place Manhattan with a 178. Salina Central was 11 strokes behind finishing with a 196, followed by Concordia with a 199 and Great Bend with a 205.
Other team scores were Hutchinson, 208; Newton, 215; Clay Center, 219; and Salina, 223.
Individually for Hays, freshman Katie Brungardt finished with a 52 and junior Macie Mayo ended with a 63.
The next action for the golfers will be Sept. 12 at Dodge City.
