Friendships changing

Sometimes in life, things come up that put a rift between you and your friends. One day, you’re best friends and seemingly the next day, you’re total strangers. I myself have experienced this in the past.

I believe that there probably is a reason for this distance. Sometimes you have an argument with a friend and don’t talk to them for days or even weeks. Though disagreements may cause problems, I don’t think that’s the only reason. I truly think that a friendship broken apart by an argument can usually be made up with an apology of some sort.

For me, I have found that I often drift apart from some of my friends. We might go to different schools, or live in different towns, or even have no classes with each other. I, for the most part, can deal with this kind of distance. After all, we’re both busy doing our own thing. But sometimes, we find that we no longer have things in common or that we want different things in life. This is what scares me the most.

I guess friendships changing are part of growing up. An individual will go through different phases in life that might not be in sync with their friends. One person might be going to college while another is joining the workforce immediately after high school. One might find that they want to be a world traveler while the other wants to be an accountant. Nevertheless, it’s hard to grow up for some of us. The world can be a scary place.

Either way, I always feel bad for losing a friend.
