Students, teachers applaud new study hall

Students in G2 GPS use their time wisely by doing their homework.

Guided Personal Study, or GPS, is a new concept to all students this year. Along with seminar, it provides another study and homework opportunity. This new required class is provided second, third, and fourth hours.

Administration did not put this as a first hour class due to the possibility of students skipping.

“It works well with anybody because it allows you to buckle down and do something while you’re here,” senior Adam Kober said.

Freshman Shane Berens agrees because he can do homework before his after school activities.

“This way I don’t have to worry about it later,” Berens said.

Although many students are approving of the new study hall, some say it has some minor setbacks.

“You can’t talk unless you’re working with someone,” sophomore Kirsten Prindle said.

Teachers are impressed with how students are using the class time.

“So far, students are keeping busy and utilizing it,” teacher Matt Brooks said.

Teacher Brad Kelly agrees.

“I think students have shown quite a bit of responsibility,” said Kelly. “Students should not have an excuse now for not getting work done.”
