Volleyball takes second at Newton Tournament on Sept. 26

The Lady Indian volleyball team recently participated in the Newton Tournament on Sept. 26 playing against Salina South, Andover Central, Topeka Highland Park, Wichita Heights, Goddard Eisenhower, and Newton. The girls went 5-1 on the day, finishing in second place and improving on the season 13-1.

Hays vs. Salina South

25-13, 25-13

Junior Talyn Kleweno, and seniors Kylie Brown and Tessa Stickel each had six kills. Senior Madison Prough had 11 assists while senior Albany Schaffer had 16 digs. Brown also had five blocks.

Hays vs. Andover Central

25-14, 25-21

Senior Audra Schmeidler had seven kills. Prough had nine assists while Schaffer had 16 digs.

Hays vs. Topeka Highland Park

25-11, 25-19

Brown had six kills while Prough put up 13 assists. Schaffer also had 12 digs.

Hays vs. Wichita Heights

25-14, 25-19

Stickel had nine kills. Prough put up 11 assists while Schaffer led with 21 digs and three service aces. Brown had three blocks.

Hays vs. Goddard Eisenhower

19-25, 25-23, 25-22

Brown had 10 kills while senior Taylor Groen Younger had 15 assists. Schaffer also had 27 digs.

Hays vs. Newton

25-21, 16-25, 22-25

Stickel put up 13 kills while Prough had 16 assists. Schaffer had 37 digs.

The next action for the Lady Indians will be on Oct. 1 at home.
