Two first half goals by Garden City proved to be to much for the boys soccer team as it fell 3-1 in the teams season opener.
For much of the first half the game was close until the Buffaloes put in two goals towards the end of the half.
In the second half Garden City put in a third goal to make the score 3-0. The Indians then started building momentum and finally capitalized on a chance as junior Jordan Windholz put in a goal with just under 20 minutes left in the game.
Hays appeared to gain another goal with just under 10 minutes left in the game when junior Lane Clark headed the ball into the back of the net, only to be called back for a foul.
The next game for the boys soccer team is Thursday, Aug. 30, versus McPherson.
