Girls soccer stunned in home opener

The girls soccer team played host to Dodge City on Tuesday, April 3, which they lost 3-0.

It was the first time the girls lost to the Red Demons at home since 2003.

The ladies were without junior goalkeeper Laura Truman for the game and junior Megan Bird played in her place.

Throughout the game junior Taylor Herman reinjured her ankle, junior Shelby Dinkel suffered an ankle injury and junior Bree Kiser received a red card and will be out for the next game.

Dodge led 1-0 at the half off of a penalty kick.

In the second half the Red Demons scored in the 59th minute to make it 2-0. Hays then received a penalty kick of its own in the 62nd minute, but missed high and wide. Dodge then reached the final score of 3-0 in the 70th minute.

The next game for the girls is Thursday, April 5, against Liberal at 1 p.m.
