The girls tennis team placed second at the Garden City Invitational this past weekend.
The girls were led by junior Shelby Dinkel who placed first in No. two singles.
“Shelby came in and surprised a lot of people,” tennis coach Brett Jensen said. “She was normally our No. one JV player, and for her to come in and take first at a tournament this big opened up a lot of peoples’ eyes.”
Seniors Bonnie McRae and Emily Wyse placed second in No. one doubles action.
The No. two doubles team of juniors Megan Bird and Janae Gagnon took third.
Senior Hanna Pfannenstiel placed fourth in No. one singles.
The next meet for the girls is Oct. 1, at McPherson.
