The boys basketball team won in thrilling fashion on Tuesday night, beating Junction City in overtime, 63-61.
In the middle of the third quarter the boys were down by 13, when the team came storming back to force overtime.
Senior Trey Herman hit two big three-pointers in the fourth quarter, helping with the team’s comeback.
With 40 seconds left in the fourth quarter, the Indians had the ball and were going for the last shot. Senior Chris Schultz took the last shot with seven seconds left, but he missed to send the game into overtime.
Junction City had been hitting three pointers all night, which they did once again on their first possession in overtime, the two teams then battled back and forth in the overtime.
The team got the last true possession of the game again with 30 seconds left and this time were able to score with 2.2 seconds left on the clock.
Junction then heaved the ball down court when it was bobbled and went out of bounds with .3 seconds left. The Blue Jays then threw it in where it was mishandled by one of the Jays, as the time expired.
Senior Zack Gaughan led the team once again getting another double-double. Gaughan had 26 points and 17 rebounds in the game.
The next game for the boys basketball team is Jan. 4 against Pratt.
