Students resume Mindset Monday lessons with added changes

Mindset Monday is one of the tasks required of students. Every week there are classes on Mondays, in order to fulfil the state’s social-emotional curriculum requirement.
The lessons, based on “The Seven Mindsets” curriculum, are meant to improve students’ mindsets and address problems students may have in their lives.
Every Monday, students report to their Arrowhead teachers during PRIDE Time for Mindset Mondays. Each lesson has a specific focus and provides time for students to reflect on their feelings and to share their thoughts with others.
This year, Mindset Mondays have a different delivery than in the past. Last year, each lesson had a set layout for how the Mindset Mondays were supposed to go, which included using “The Seven Mindsets” website to view a quote and explain the meaning, watch a video about the lesson, discuss questions about the video or lesson and write a journal entry about a given question.
However, this year, a change was made. Lisa Renz, one of the teachers in charge of the Mindset Mondays, said, “Instead of exclusively using ‘The Seven Mindsets’ curriculum, a four-person team is working to develop different lesson plans. We felt that it was a better fit for our students. We do, however, still use some from ‘The Seven Mindsets.’ We thought we could make it more engaging to students, and hopefully, they would get more out of it.”
