Michelle Thacker has come back to teach Personal Finance, Food Prep. II, Human Growth, and Helping Hands. She recently worked as a paraprofessional here at Hays High.

“The teachers were all so wonderful and worked so hard to help the students,” Thacker said. “I wanted to be a part of that.”

Thacker said she enjoys the atmosphere here along with the hard working students and teachers so much that three years ago, she quit being a paraprofessional so she could finish her degree in education and become a full time teacher.

“I hope that at the end of the semester, I will have contributed to the students learning environment in a positive way,” Thacker said.

She enjoys making an impact on every one of her students and seeing their gifts and talents and hopes to impact them positively by the end of the year, because she is currently a long term sub and not a full time teacher.

“I like her and she’s a good teacher,” senior Rance Rumbaugh said. “She’s up to date with technology and she’s good at updating grades.”

Thacker prefers using technology in place of paper and likes using Google docs.

“I hope my love for the content that I am teaching is transferred and generates a life-long interest in improving life skills that will help shape the student’s future,” Thacker said.
