The Hays High School boys varsity tennis team competed at their final regular season meet on Thursday, May 1 in Pratt. The results are listed below.

No. 1 Singles: senior Kale Schwien – second place

No. 2 Singles: senior Ken Shaffer – third place

No. 1 Doubles: seniors Preston Parr and Mason Schleicher – second place

No. 2 Doubles: seniors Christian Miller and Kenny Fisher – fourth place

With all players at the final regular season meet being seniors, there was a greater sense of finality in this meet.

“Since I’ve put a lot of time into tennis, it definitely feels sad, being my last season,” senior Ken Shaffer said. “Playing tennis has made high school a very enjoyable experience. It gave me something to have fun with and got me active.”

Tennis has provided players with not only athletic opportunities and victories but also a sense of community with their fellow teammates.

“Practicing with my friends, making jokes and laughing were some of my best high school memories so far,” Shaffer said. “My favorite memory from this season was eating at the Great Wall Buffet in Great Bend with my team.”
