On Jan. 25 in the Hays High library, students were able to sign up for Hays Public Library cards and library resources, such as Hoopla and Libby.

Hays Public Library staff present included Outreach Librarian Holly Ray and Public Services Coordinator Skyler Robinson.

Hoopla and Libby are online book borrowing sites. Hays Public Library card holders can access books online or through the Libby or Hoopla apps. This helps students have access to books that are not available at Hays Public Library.

“Hoopla and Libby are digital resources a lot of classes at Hays High use in their classrooms,” Ray said. “The library staff are here in order to access student accounts and to help train students and faculty on the best ways to use our digital resources.”

Students said they were grateful to have the library staff here to assist them.

“Having the staff there helps students have a better understanding of library resources,” freshman Emmaline Leuschner “Reading is important to students because there are so many benefits.”
