The spirit days this year are getting students excited to be participating in homecoming events. The cartoon spirit day has especially gotten students and teachers glad to be dressing up.

Whether students are dressing up as their favorite cartoon characters by themselves, or dressing up with a group of friends, the school spirit levels are high.

“I dressed up as Minnie Mouse by myself,” sophomore Payton Selby said. “I thought it’d be easy because I already had the ears from a trip to Disney World.”

Senior MKilar Otte dressed as Emperor Kuzco from "The Emperor's New Groove".

Senior Michael Reyes got into the school spirit by dressing up as Woody from the movie “Toy Story”.

“I tried my best,” Reyes said. “I didn’t have all the clothes Woody had but I wanted a reason to wear my cowboy hat and Mexican boots. The only bad thing was I had to wear an ugly, crusty yellow shirt all day.”

Sophomores Shyann Schumacher and Britney Park dressed as twins Dipper and Mable Pines from the show “Gravity Falls”.

“I’ve never really seen the show,” Schumacher said. “But Britney told me to dress like Mable so I did.”

Freshmen Mercedes Nuss and Nicole Harvey dressed as “Monsters Inc” characters Mike and Sully.

“I wanted to be something different and original,” Nuss said. “Most of my friends were planning on being superheroes, so we decided to go with ‘Monsters Inc’.

Students are not the only people dressing up for this spirit day, some of the teachers are too.

“Mr. Pfannenstiel and I were trying to figure out cartoon characters that would work for the entire math department together,” math instructor Jayme Goetz said. “We wanted everyone to be able to take part, so through some brain storming, we came up with the Scooby gang.”

The math department teachers usually participate in spirit days together, and this year was no exception.

“We are all very school spirited,” Pfannenstiel said. “Scooby Doo fit perfectly for our group since there are five of us.”
