Coloring becomes common way to pass time in class

It is common to find a child coloring in their free time, but a new trend has set forth a wave of adult “colorers”. A large amount of “adult” coloring books hit stores this year, and teens at the school are hopping on board with the new trend.

“I like the trend,” junior Hannah Thomasson said. “I’ve always liked coloring and I think since the say it’s ‘adult coloring’ it makes it seem more acceptable to everyone.”

Senior Nicole Dinkel is right on board with Thomasson.

“I like the idea of adult coloring books, because it brings people back to their childhood,” Dinkel said. “Also because it can be a great stress reliever.”

In classrooms throughout the day, one could normally find at least one person coloring.

“I see people, even guys, coloring in school on their tablets,” junior Brianna Brin said. “I think it’s just a fun thing to do when you’re bored in class. I used to color during school, but now I’m stuck on Sudoku and Mahjong. I like having something to do to pass the time in class when the teacher is rambling on or we have busy work to do.”

Dinkel had a similar idea.

“I think people color because it is a fun way to pass the time and because it might be a stress reliever,” Dinkel said. “I color sometimes because I get bored easily and it is a way to pass time and relieve stress. I also like to color because I feel accomplished once I have finished coloring an image.”
