Baseball:
The Indian baseball team played in the regional tournament at Bishop Carroll on May 19.
Before their regional, Hays played an away double header against Junction City. They successfully won both games and brought their rank up to No. 12 in 5A.
To qualify for state, a baseball team must place first out of their region.
Coming into the first game, Hays faced No. 5 Bishop Caroll to qualify for the finals bracket in the West Regional.
Track & Field:
The boys and girls track and field teams competed at the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) tournament in Dodge City on May 14 and then participated in the regional meet, held for the first time at Hays High School, on May 21 for a chance to qualify for the state meet.

Regionals
To qualify for the state championship, an athlete or relay team must place in the Top 3 at their regional meet. If they do not finish in the Top 3, they can still qualify by earning one of the four best remaining performances statewide in their classification based on time, height or distance.
Boys Golf:
The boys team competed at the regional meet, held at their home course at Smoky Hill Country Club, on May 18.
To qualify as a team, the team must place in the Top 3 out of the teams present. Otherwise, individually, players had to rank Top 5 out of every athlete. At the meet, there were a total of seven teams and 42 athletes.
Individually, senior Caleb Thompson placed first with a total of 70 while sophomore Miles Weimer placed third with a score of 77.
Sophomore Dalton Schmidtberger came in 11th while senior Trey Oakley ended in12th with both of them shooting an 83. Senior Braiden Bickle placed 14th with an 84 while junior Mason Simmons placed 25th with a total of 90.
Overall, Hays placed first with a combined score of 313. All boys mentioned above qualified as a team and will compete at the state meet on May 26 at the Tallgrass Golf Course, located in Wichita.
