On May 5, the boys golf team played their final regular season tournament at Willow Tree Golf Course in Liberal. Par at this course is 72 for 18 holes.

Senior Landen Clark scored the lowest with 84, tying the golfer in 10th place, senior Ashton Bickle followed with an 86, and freshman Trey Oakley and senior Blake Buckles both shot an 89. Together, they shot a 347 for fourth place.

With this being the last tournament, the final Western Athletic Conference (WAC) standings were released. The team finished third in the conference, with Bickle making the All-WAC first team, and Clark and junior Braxton Banker making the All-WAC second team.

“I felt like this season was a great year of improvement for me and the team,” Clark said. “It’s been a great senior year, and we are looking forward to regionals.”

Hays will host regionals to qualify for state on May 15, and state will be held in Mcpherson the following week on May 22.
