Girls Track:
On April 2, Hays High School hosted its first home track meet in school history, and the lady Indians started off the season with a dominant performance by taking first overall.
Individual successes included senior Zoe Winter placing first in the shot put, junior Lyndi Zimmerman taking first in the 100-meter hurdles and 100-meter dash, junior Brooke Bieker placing first in javelin, freshman Chloe Crawford taking first in high jump, freshman Sydney Lewallen placing first in the 400-meter dash and freshman Audrey Yarmer taking first in the 1600-meter run and the 3200-meter run.
“I feel very happy that I took first place in high jump, and it excites me to see how I can improve with more practice,” Crawford said.
Girls Soccer:
As of April 14, the Indian girls soccer team is 3-4 on the season. The most recent game was against the Junction City Blue Jays in an away game on Monday, April 13, and the lady Indians captured a 8-0 victory.
Softball:
Like track, softball now has a home facility on the school campus. Their current record is 6-2 with wins against Dodge City, Junction City and Liberal.
On April 7 and April 9, the girls took on the Dodge City Red Demons. In both games, Hays won with ease.
The lady Indians are set to face off against the Garden City Buffaloes in Garden City on Tuesday, April 14.
Girls Swim:
Hays High School’s girls swimming team had its first meet on March 26 at Salina South. At the meet, they placed third out of seven teams, and their A medley relay team and A 400 freestyle relay team both took first place.
