Assistant Coach Ty Berry Talks to some members of the softball team during a timeout called by Great Bend during the game that the Indians hosted on April 22.

On April 29, the Hays High softball team traveled to Salina to play Thomas More Prep. and Sacred Heart as part of the triangular hosted by Sacred Heart.

The first game was against the TMP Monarchs, and the Indians were able to produce a win, with the score being 12-2.

Junior Brenna Schwien drove in three runs, and junior Sydney Fagan and sophomore Madyson Sennett both drove in two runs.

In the second game against Sacred Heart, the Indians would fall 0-2 in the bottom in the first inning before scoring two runs in the top of the second to even the score.

The Indians were then able to score two more runs off of a single by Schwien in the top of the third, and those would be the final runs scored in the game.

The Indians would go on to play clean defense for the next four innings, with freshman Aubree Thomas ending the game with a final strikeout.

Thomas pitched both games for the Indians and only allowed one earned run on the day.

The team is now 8-5 on the season. The Indians will be back in action on May 4, when they travel to Liberal for the final two games of the three-game series.
