The Hays High boys basketball team played against the Greenbacks of Pratt on Jan. 26 at home. The Indians are 11-0 on the year and ranked No. 1 in 5A standings.

The Indians had some bench players missing because of disciplinary issues, but they did not have a problem with the Greenbacks. The first quarter truly showed the Indians’ strength and depth in the roster.

The Indians started the game with a 10-0 run that ended with a steal by junior Jordan Dale that turned into an ally-oop to senior Tj Nunnery. Hays High went on another impressive run to end the first quarter 26-3.

The second quarter kept rolling in the Indians’ way; they walked into the locker room with a 46-22 lead.

In the third quarter, the Indians defense only gave up five points; going into the fourth quarter, the Indians pushed the lead to 69-27. The Indians put in the backups for the rest of the quarter and won 74-29.

Hays High moved to 12-0 and are set to match up with Salina Central for a sectional match up that has all of the stakes; Central went into double overtime against the No. 2 team in 5A Salina South.
