Scholar’s Bowl was able to take two JV teams to the TMP JV Invitational Tournament on Nov. 10.

Hays A team consisted of senior Brittani Park, sophomores Anna Brull (captain), Sophia Garrison and Sydney Walker and freshman Elena Herl.

Hays B team consisted of senior Isaiah Schindler (captain), juniors Brandon Kennemer and Joanna Carrillo and freshmen Kristen Kuhl and Jada Thomas.

Hays B team ended with a 4-5 record and did not qualify for finals. A team went 7-2 which was good enough to get them into the finals. However, they did not win any of the final rounds.

Since A team did not win any final rounds, they thought they were walking away in fourth place-one spot away from medaling.

However, a few days later, it was announced that the second place team was actually a varsity team and had withdrawn their placement. That put the Hays A team in third place.

“I think we did pretty darn well,” Park said. “I am very proud of myself and the team.”

While the team members will probably not receive the third place medals, they and instructor Cheryl Shepherd-Adams are very pleased with the performances from both teams.

“I think it was good practice in a competition setting,” Shepherd-Adams said. “We ended up taking third out of 20 JV teams, so I thought we did very well.”
