FFA starts fruit, meat, cheese fundraiser
FFA started the fundraiser sale of fruits, meat, and cheese on Oct. 22 which will end Nov. 19.
“We sell fruit, which we’ve done for 30 years,” Agriculture instructor and FFA advisor Curt Vajnar said. “If we didn’t sell fruit people would go crazy because that’s what they expect you to do.”
The fruits and meats are supplied by RiverStar Farms out of Mercedes, Texas and the cheese is from Zak’s Cheese out of Guymon, Okla.
Featured products include Wisconsin Cheddar Cheese, Kettle Style Popcorn, Navel Oranges and Peppered Bacon. Many products are included in gift baskets or combinations.
The money will be used for “paying for all the stuff we do, workshops, state convention, national convention, the stock show out in Denver,” Vajnar said. “You know, paying the bills.”
Vajnar estimates the fundraiser will provide between $3,500 and $5,000 for FFA activities.
“If we never sold enough we’d have to deal with it, but whenever we want to do something we have money to do it, so we haven’t gotten there yet,” Vajnar said.
Delivery will be from approximately Dec. 6 through Dec. 9.
