Orchestra traveled to Oklahoma City on Sept. 16 and 17. The reason being to see the Oklahoma Philharmonic.

Students have the opportunity to see one symphony a year, typically being in Denver. This year, however, the trip moved cities.

“We wanted something different, and I knew there are a lot of things in Oklahoma to do and see,” orchestra instructor Joan Crull said.

The 41 students were able to see the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial as well as Bricktown. The group went to a mall also.

For both the Zoe’s in class, the Bombing Memorial was their favorite.

“The memorial we went to was really, really interesting,” sophomore Zoe Buffington said.

Junior Zoe A. Martin, who has attended the trip since she was a freshman, agreed with her, saying that the memorial was sad.

“We went somewhere different, and we got to do more stuff,” Martin said. “It (The bombing museum) was really cool, and I still got to learn.”

Crull plans on continuing the trip, but wants to change the destination.

“Next year, I’m going to go another city we haven’t been to yet, so I keep changing it,” Crull said. “My favorite part was how the kids behaved at the memorial; they were very respectful. The kids are great. I had fun with them.”
