The lady Indian basketball team lost their fifth game of the season to Great Bend 42-36 on Jan. 13.

The loss to Great Bend set the Indian’s record from 3-4 to 3-5 in the season.

In the first quarter Great Bend outscored Hays 12-2 chalking up a 10 point lead into the second, where Hays outscored Great Bend 15-8. The score during half time was Great Bend 20-17 against Hays. In the third quarter Hays outscored Great Bend 15-11, and in the fourth quarter Great Bend outscored Hays 11-4 rounding out the final score of 42-36.

Audra Schmiedler put up 13 of Hays’ points shooting 6-17 in the arc, 0-3 behind the arc. She had 15 rebounds and three assists. Mattie Schlaefli added seven points and Maddie Keller added five points.

Ashlyn Parrish contributed five points, while Haley George, Tayln Kleweno, and Brooke Russell added two points completing the final scoring of the game.

Their next game is against Garden City Jan. 16.
