Students Discuss decorating early for Christmas

You walk into a store and see lights strung everywhere, little Santas on shelves and some employees putting up trees, even though it’s November.
“It makes me excited that Christmas is coming and then I start to think about what to get people,” sophomore Rachelle Lumpkins said.
Students like early Christmas decorations because it gets them in a holiday mood and helps them make plans for it. According to some, the colorful decorations cheer them up and get them excited.
It makes me angry because it’s not even Christmas yet,” freshman Sophia Moore said.
Other students think that decorating before Thanksgiving interferes with the holiday and that it’s only okay to decorate after Thanksgiving.
“I like it, I just don’t like the big blow up things,” freshman Kayla Satomi said.
Some don’t really care about the decorations or they only think the big ones are annoying, such as the big blow-up Santas or the big reindeer on roofs.
“It’s fine to be in the Christmas sprit early, but people should tone it down,” freshman Britney Espinosa said.
Students feel the putting up huge Christmas trees and playing Christmas songs will put them in the Christmas spirit, but too much of it so early is a bad thing.
“Once Thanksgiving passes it would be ok to decorate,” Moore said. “Just not before or you’ll be blowing off a major holiday.”
