Students discuss first dates

You’ve been thinking about this all day, playing out all the possible situations in your head. Your hands are sweaty, and you tore apart your wardrobe to find the perfect outfit for your first date.

“It was awkward because you’re just getting to know the person, it gets more comfortable the more you’re around them,” senior Jordan Wilson said.

First dates are sometimes nerve wracking for students. It’s the first time they get to officially spend time alone with the person they’ve been crushing on.

“I had a huge crush on my date for three years, and on our first date my dad came home drunk and started saying random things that didn’t make sense,” senior Lexie Reinhardt said.

Some people end up having a crush on someone for years, and then when everything is going well, something really awkward could occur. But if that happens, it’s not really the worst thing that can happen on a date.

“On my first date I forgot my wallet and my girlfriend had to pay,” senior Layton Stroup said.

Sometimes dates can go wrong, but those dates can provide experience for the future and some pretty entertaining memories for you to share.

“Nothing embarrassing happened, rather a lack of things happened,” senior Keenan Rohlf said.

There are those dates where neither person knows what to do or say, so the couple just wanders around hoping to find something to do and make things less awkward.

“I wasn’t really nervous, it went pretty well,” freshman Josh Arthur said.

Some lucky students have a perfect first date with no problems, no embarrassing mishaps, and both dates have a good time whether it be a big fancy dinner date or just cuddling up on a couch watching a movie.

“I was nervous but I knew him for a long time,” sophomore Jayline Sotres said. “It’s easier to date someone if you’ve known them for a while.
