On Nov. 18, the Hays High School unified bowling team rolled its way to an impressive milestone: achieving second place at state.
After a season of hard work, the team represented Hays High at the state unified bowling tournament, returning to state for just the second time in the program’s history.
On the state team were Lucas Miller, Ben Bergman, Tyler Huynh, Loucinda Meade, Keaton Brown and Ethan Kuhlmann.
The team, led by head coach Richard Hodges, faced off at the regional tournament against Garden City, Great Bend and Salina South. They placed in the top five at regionals, allowing them to qualify for state. At state, they achieved second place.
Bergman, who has been a key bowler, said that he tried to “learn from every interaction, for everyone has something to teach you, even the ones you hate.”
