Blood drive collects over 50 units
As of March 7, Red Cross has 59 more units of blood. Many of this is thanks to over 30 people that helped at the blood drive, the Red Cross Club and about 53 people that donated.
“Our goal was 54 units and we collected 59 units, so we beat our goal by five units,” Red Cross Club supervisor Jayme Goetz said. “We were not expecting that high of a turnout because we felt that we were not prepared, and we felt like we didn’t have enough people sign up. The student body really pulled together, and we had a lot of last minute walk-ins.”
As of this blood drive, the Red Cross Club will continue to run it. The next drive is over the summer.
“Our next one is going to be over the summer, June fifth,” Goetz said.
Next time, however, the expectations are going to rise.
“We’re going to have quite a few more because we’re going to be prepared for the future,” Goetz said. “We’re going to know what to expect and how to set up.”
For Goetz’s first time being in charge of the blood drive, the event did well.
“I’m really excited,” Goetz said. “I thought we were going to come under, but we did really well.”
