On Friday, Sept. 26, the student body, along with staff members and alumni classes, gathered in the Performing Arts Center for the Homecoming Formal Assembly at 12:30 p.m.
The room was decorated with characters from Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland,” on theme for this year’s Homecoming week. The assembly was emceed by senior Savannah Clingan, the class president.
Following Clingan’s introduction to the assembly, the Chamber Singers performed the song “Home,” featuring solos performed by senior Chloe Rice and junior Jazmine Lynd and conducted by choir teacher Alex Underwood.
After the performance, Clingan shared the accolades of fall sports teams, including cross country, volleyball, girls tennis, girls golf, boys soccer, cheerleading and football, in that order.
Following that, the returning 2024 Homecoming royalty, alums Cooper L. Johnson and Daniella Willeford, came onto the stage, preceding the 2025 Homecoming royalty candidates.
Afterwards, the Class of 1985’s president shared a few words to introduce the Alumni Association’s award for former teacher and coach Rick Keltner, who spoke afterwards.
The assembly was concluded by the Chamber Singers, who returned to stage to perform a rendition of the Alma Mater that the audience was encouraged to sing along with in the final verse.
“I think the assembly is a way for our school to showcase our early successes in the school year and to provide a moment to honor our alums who are here for their class reunions,” Underwood said.
