The Hays High School lady Indians softball team played a doubleheader against the Manhattan Indians on May 15.
In the first game, Hays scored four runs in the first inning, one in the third and six in the fifth. Junior Lanie Becker scored three runs, senior Riley Dreher and freshman Brynlee Rupp scored two runs and senior Avery Solida, senior Alyse Zimmerman and sophomore Brynlee Brous scored one run. The ending score was 11-0, with Hays High taking the win.
In the second game, Hays scored three runs in the first inning and also three runs in the fifth inning. Zimmerman scored two runs, while Dreher, Rupp and junior Jaylee Summers each scored one run for the team. The final score was 6-4, with the Hays High Indians coming out on top.
“We were able to end our regular season on a high note and send our seniors out with two wins,” head coach Abby Gillan said. “Hopefully, we can take this momentum with us into the postseason.”
