Recently, the Kansas Association of Broadcasters announced their 2025 Student Award winners, which included members of Hays High School’s Tribe Broadcasting.
Five entries placed first, including senior Avery Augustine in Vertical Video, senior Hank Corsair in Complete Sports Feature (Audio) and in Talk Show Program (Audio), senior Kallyn Meyers in Promotional Video Announcement and junior Connor Werth in Documentary.
“It felt good to have my hard work pay off,” said Werth, “especially since it’s what’s I’m going into for my career.”
Two entries finished in second place, including Corsair in On-Air Personality (Audio) and Sports Play by Play (Audio).
And, two entries received an honorable mention, including Corsair in Promotional Audio Announcement and the group of seniors Ian Henderson, Slade Salmans and Cooper Smith and juniors Mason Eaton, Jonathan Rigler and Drew Wellbrock for Episodic Entertainment (Video)
“I knew, coming into this school year, that I had a goal to place in as many categories as possible,” Corsair said. “So, I really just put in the hard work and broadcasted to the best of my ability this year.”
