Quill and Scroll members sort books into boxes to go to the elementary schools.
Hays High School’s Quill and Scroll Journalism Honor Society chapter hosted a book drive from Feb. 17-28.
Members placed collection boxes in each of the English classrooms, in addition to the journalism classroom and the main office, to gather the books, and staff and students could bring new or lightly used children’s books.
Following the two-week book drive, members collected the books on Monday, March 3. Then, at their meeting on Wednesday, March 12, members sorted and counted the books donated.
A total of 286 books were donated in the book drive. The books will be distributed to the district’s elementary schools, as well as Early Childhood Connections, in April.
