On Feb. 20, the Hays High School bowling team competed in a match against Great Bend at Centennial Lanes.
The varsity boys team placed second with a 2,990. Junior Tyler Hyunh placed fourth individually with a 598 followed by junior Keaton Brown who finished with a 583.
The junior varsity boys also placed second with a 1,962 overall. Sophomore Xander Clark finished fourth individually with a 478.
Varsity girls placed second with an 1,861 overall. Junior Loucinda Meade placed second individually with a 443, and junior Aleena Acheson placed fourth with a 423.
Next, the team competed in regionals in Hutchinson on Feb. 27. The varsity boys placed 11th overall with a 2,831 series. Junior Ben Bergman earned a spot in the Top 20, with a 603 series, landing in 13th place.
The varsity girls placed 10th overall with a 1,945 series. Junior Loucinda Meade also made the Top 20, with a 486 series, finishing in 17th place.
Meade qualified for state bowling and competed in Wichita on March 5, placing 23rd with a 531 series.
