Indian Call week began at Hays High School on Thursday, Jan. 30 with a decorating lock-in, at which Student Council members began putting up decorations in the Event Commons that matched this year’s theme, “Wizarding World.”
Spirit Week kicked off on Monday, Feb. 3 with Dress Like Your Parents Day. During PRIDE Time, StuCo also sponsored a pep rally that featured the candidate and class games. An addition to the pep rally this year was the crowd-favorite lip-sync battle, which was won by the candidate pair of seniors Kenny Fisher and Alyse Zimmerman.
Tuesday, Feb. 4 was Wicked Day, and Wednesday, Feb. 5 was Construction Day. On both days, StuCo held a golden snitch scavenger hunt, in which snitches were hidden around the school, and staff members and students could turn them in for prizes if they found one.
Thursday, Feb. 6 was Y2K Day, and Friday, Feb. 7 was Harry Potter House Color Day. Exceptional Student Day was also held during PRIDE Time.
That night, in between the boys and girls basketball games, senior Caleb King was crowned Indian Call king, and senior Riley Dreher was crowned Indian Call queen.
“It was a very surreal experience,” King said. “I remember being in shock for quite a while afterwards.”
The dance was held at Hays High on Saturday, Feb. 8 from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and clean-up was held the next day from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. to wrap up the week.
