On Jan. 23, the Hays High School bowling team competed at Liberal against Holcomb and Liberal.
Varsity boys placed third overall with an altogether 1,829 series. Senior Will Clark finished fourth with a 499, junior Ben Bergman was eighth with a 442 series, sophomore Keaton Brown was ninth with a 437, junior Tyler Huynh was 12th with a 411 and sophomore Xander Clark ranked 16th with a 367.
Junior varsity boys placed third as well with a 983 series. Sophomore Jacob Ridgeway finished sixth with a 370, senior Lucas Miller was ninth with a 348 and junior Yasmany Ruiz was 14th with a 264.
Varsity girls placed second overall with a 1,280 series. Junior Loucinda Meade finished first with a 392, sophomore Denver Reeves was sixth with a 360, junior Aleena Acheson was seventh with a 336 and freshman Parker Harmon was 12th with a 192.
The following Monday, Jan. 27, they traveled to Great Bend to compete with Great Bend and McPherson.
Varsity boys placed overall third with a 2,011 series, and Will Clark finished second with a 568. Brown bowled a 515 and was fifth, Xander Clark bowled a 460 and was 12th, Bergman ranked 14th with bowled a 442 and was 14th and Huynh bowled a 426 and was 17th.
“The bowling season has been going good,” Will Clark said, “I’m improving by getting higher scores each game as the season come along.”
The junior varsity boys placed fourth overall with a 766 series. Miller was ninth with a 413, and Ridgeway was 14th with a 353.
The varsity girls placed second with a 1,368 series. Acheson was fourth with a 432, Meade was fifth with a 410, Reeves was 10th with a 310, Harmon was 16th with a 202 and freshmen Alexis Cooley was 17th with a 151.
