Each December, the National Honor Society (NHS) organizes a Holiday Help Project to support families in need.
For the annual project, NHS members are given meal lists from the project coordinators and are tasked with purchasing groceries for the school’s food pantry. After purchasing the groceries, NHS students sort them according to the families who will receive the donated groceries for Christmas.
In addition to the food donations, volunteers also shop for Christmas gifts for those in need. These gifts, along with the groceries, are then delivered to the families as part of the holiday donation.
“It has been another successful project,” said NHS coordinator, Kayla Brown. “We have 10 families receiving multiple boxes of food for the break, as well as gifts for each member of the family.”
