“Reputation,” Taylor Swift’s sixth album, was released Nov. 10, 2017. This album saved her career but also had drama behind it. Now, almost every Swiftie wants “Reputation (Taylor’s Version),” which will be referred to as “REP TV.” With this also being the album that started easter eggs, Swifties are still finding new meanings to clues seven years later. Swifties also still wonder what, if anything, will be done with “Karma,” the lost album or old name for “REP.”
“REP TV” is very much up in the air, in that Swifties know not much more than what we did two years ago, as far as when “REP TV” will be released. Clues that Swifties continue to look back at are the “ME!” music video theory, the karma coffee cup theory, the 112-day theory, the 2,190-day theory, 3.2.1/1.2.3 theory and “The Man” wall clock theory. Some less common theories are serpentine, thanK you aIMee and Times Person of the Year 2023, upon many more.
Clue #1
The “ME!” music video provides clues about a double album announcement or drop. Swifties tend to theorize a “Deputation” announcement/drop because of how the snake from that video combusts into butterflies, with the possible album combining “Debut” and “Reputation,” hence the name “Deputation.” That is significant because butterflies were a big part of the Debut Era theme.
Clue #2
The karma coffee cup is potentially the most common clue brought up. It has the fingernails on the tea plate that the cup sits on going from blue to black, meaning “1989 TV” to “REP TV.” “1989 TV” was announced in Los Angeles during the first leg of the Eras Tour and released in October 2023. It has now been over a year since that Taylor’s Version announcement, but “The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD)” was released in late April of this year, becoming TS11.
Clue #3
The 112 theory is one of the most popular theories regarding any announcement or release. This originated at the start of the Eras Tour in March 2023. The thought behind this theory is that Swift released her re-recorded albums 112 days apart from each other. Starting with March 17, 2023, the Eras Tour began, and 112 days afterwards on July 7, 2023, “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” was released. Then, another 112 days after that on Oct. 27, 2023, “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” was released, followed by another 112 days, leading to Feb.16, 2024. Although the pattern was broken with nothing releasing that day, three days later, “TTPD” was released. This three-day delay could have been for many reasons, but now, Swifties do not know if Swift is still running on the 112-day schedule.
Another pattern that Swifties have noticed is that Swift has been doing two re-records and then one new album; currently, it is set up to get the two re-records next, and this is the last re-record left. The pattern has followed with “Fearless (Taylor’s Version),” “Red (Taylor’s Version),” “Midnights,” “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version),” “1989 (Taylor’s Version),” “TTPD” and then “Reputation” and “Debut” potentially next.
The reason it is the number 112 is because that is how many stolen songs she has. Swift also met Scott Borchetta, one of the men selling her master recordings, on Nov. 2, 2004 (11/2/04). And, 11+2=13 and 1+12=13, with 13 being Swift’s favorite number. In Minneapolis on June 23, 2023, for the Eras Tour, Swift played the surprise song, “If This Was a Movie.” 112 days after that, the official Eras Tour film was released in the United States. 112 is also the angel number for new beginnings and new opportunities.
Clue #4
The 2,190-day theory revolves around “REP” but was introduced with the album “Midnights” with the song “Glitch,” saying, “But it’s been 2,190 days of our love blackout.” Some think this could have been Swift counting the days of the pandemic in 2020, but others think it was about her relationship with Joe Alwyn. The blackout with the relationship could have been their relationship falling apart or them keeping it out of the public eye.
Clue #5
If you have listened to the song “…Ready For It?” then the 3.2.1/1.2.3 theory should be pretty self-explanatory. The day “TTPD” was announced, many things occurred, such as Error Code 321 on her website. A little while after that, a QR code was painted on the side of a building, which, when scanned, gave the same error code. In the official Eras Tour book, there are many parts that lead to 321 or 123. With the book releasing on Black Friday this year, many think that on Dec. 8, the last day of the Eras Tour, “REP TV” will be announced.
Clue #6
“The Man” wall clock theory also originated from the release of “Midnights” when Swift geared Swifties’ attention to time, although the wall clock has been around since “Lover” was released. On the wall with “Reputation,” one can make out “Debut” with how the font is. The wall also has “Karma” on it, which was what “Reputation” was supposed to be originally and is now the lost album.
Clues #7, #8 and #9
Other less common theories include “TTPD’s” code name of “serpentine,” which is linked to snakes, and many think that “REP” will be the next album from that. Then the “thanK you aIMee” theory, from which the capital letters spell out “Kim,” and that is obviously a hit towards Kim Kardashian with all the drama from her “REP” era. Another one is Swift winning Time magazine’s Person of the Year; in the interview that they did, Swift talked about the vault tracks to “REP TV,” and the photo shoot was also very “REP” coded, with Swift returning to similar fashion from that era. Also, when Swift released “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” the “s” in version looked very similar to a snake.
We are currently due for a Taylor’s Version, and even if Swift did announce “Debut TV,” it would not get as much attention as a “REP TV” album.
