Hays High School’s Environmental Club held its third meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 7 to discuss the deadline for T-shirt orders and plans for their second event this year. The event decided on was a trash pick-up/scavenger hunt.
The scavenger hunt was on Monday, Nov. 13 at Frontier Park. Club members met by the park and were given a list of trash items they had to find. Attendees then split into groups and searched for the items on their lists.
After everything on their list was found, the groups met back up to dispose of the trash that they collected.
“I think it went well,” Environmental Club officer senior Joanna Mendoza said. “Those who chose to be there had a great attitude and work ethic during the scavenger hunt.”
The club is planning to have more trash pick-ups throughout the year, along with possible movie nights in the winter and tree planting later in the school year.
