The Environmental Club had its second meeting of the year on Wednesday, Oct. 18. During the meeting, the members discussed shirt orders and plans for the school year, along with the trash pick-up event that they would have the following week on Thursday, Oct. 26.
The trash pick-up was held at Frontier Park and lasted around an hour. Originally, the event was going to be on the Fort Hays State University campus near Jellison Bridge, however, the area was flooded. Despite the abrupt change in location, there was still a good turnout of club members, and the collection of trash filled five trash bags. After picking up trash, the students were invited to relax at the picnic tables and supplied with drinks. The club plans on having another trash pick-up event sometime during November.
“I thought that this trash pick-up was very successful, especially for the first meeting,” senior Hailey Bond said. “In Environmental Club, we strive to do our part to help the earth.”
