Hays High dominates Dodge City in Homecoming football game
The Hays High football team faced off against the Dodge City Demons for the Indians’ Homecoming game on Oct. 7. Hays came into the game with a record of 4-1, and Dodge City came in with a record of 3-2.
Hays started off the game strong, with junior running back Malik Bah scoring early in the game with a 60-yard touchdown. After a quick stop defensively, Hays’ offense struck again with a touchdown pass from senior Kyreese Groen to senior receiver Keamonie Archie in the back of the endzone. Hays continued their early dominance with another stop and yet another touchdown pass from Groen to Archie. At the end of the first quarter, Hays found themselves up 20-0 against the Demons.
In the second quarter, Hays kept their foot on the gas pedal, with Bah scoring again on a long touchdown run, followed by a 25-yard touchdown pass from Groen to Bah. At the end of the first half, the score showed 41-0, Hays.
In the second half, many starters for Hays were benched, as the freshmen and junior varsity players saw some action. After many scoreless drives for both teams, Dodge City scored to make the score 41-6.
The final score of the game was a Hays victory of 41-6, and Hays will host Liberal at home on Oct. 14.
