Art students attend local university event
On April 20, Fort Hays State University held its 47th Annual High School Art Day. A wide variety of schools displayed their artistic talent through different methods and mediums.
Registration and set up of the school exhibits lasted from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. The exhibits were judged throughout the day while other events occurred, such as the sidewalk chalk drawing competition from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and touring the other exhibits. Students could also tour some of the areas FHSU has to offer.
“We went to tour the art and design building and the programs they offer there,” senior Emma Kuhn said.
The event has been held online for the past several years.
“I enjoyed it a lot, as this was my first one with the past two Art Day events being held online,” Kuhn said.
Other students also enjoyed the variety of artistic aspects of the event, especially getting to see the work of aspiring artists.
“I enjoyed every second of it,” senior Kayla Apalategui said. “My passion for art grew a significant amount after seeing mind-blowing art that people had made from scratch.”
